5 link suspension

Mazda's well engineered 5 link rear suspension. I decided to install the complete MX5  suspension and subframe as a unit into the Locost, rather than do away with the subframe as some other builders have.  The actual subframe is not as heavy as it looks, in fact once it was stripped bare for painting I was surprised just how light it really is.  I could not justify all the extra work required to design and fabricate mounts on the chassis to do away with the subframe.  Strength and accuracy in placing the mounts would be an issue and once the mounts were installed and the chassis appropriately strengthened I doubt there would be any noticeable weight saving.  Additionally, I have a very easy unit to remove in one piece that's held in place by just 6 main bolts.
