The original MX5 instrument cluster was mounted in the centre of the Locost dash.  Some components (eg the engine and trans) would not operate without the original instrument cluster.  Utilising the original dash simplified the wiring and helped overcome some of the electronics issues.  It also required the turning off of all the warning lights that appear eg doors open, airbags deployed, boot lid open etc etc etc........  The original MX5 steering wheel provides paddle shifts for the six speed auto and also controls for the standard cruise control, but I did not use the stereo controls!
